12th Annual Fundraiser Features Donated Handbags from Celebrities like Sharon Stone, Katy Perry and Linda Ronstadt to Help Raise Funds for Low Income People Battling Breast Cancer in Bay Area Counties.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – October 5, 2016 – Breast Cancer Emergency Fund (BCEF) celebrates 12 years of providing financial emergency assistance to low income Bay Area women and men battling breast cancer with its annual fashion gala held at the Bently Reserve on October 21st 2016; This Old Bag: Power of the Purse. A live and silent auction including the most valuable and coveted bags will be paired with other exciting items such as travel packages and exciting experiences. Last year’s event raised over $250,000 for low-income women and men battling breast cancer.
More than 300 attendees will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while bidding on an array of handbags donated by fashion designers, celebrities, individual donors, couture and vintage boutiques. This Old Bag will feature handbags from such well known fashion houses as Prada, Hermes, Tiffany & Co., Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Judith Leiber, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Versace and dozens more.
“What a great way to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a night filled with shopping, and auction proceeds go directly to helping people in need in our community. Over 80% of our clients are unable to work throughout their intensive breast cancer treatment, and BCEF’s financial assistance helps provide life-extending medical treatments, avoid utility shut-off, prevent eviction and maintain stable housing while they battle breast cancer,” said Maria Sousa, BCEF Managing Director.
This Old Bag: Power of the Purse event is planned by a committee of local leaders. “As a two-time cancer veteran, I am an active volunteer and fundraiser for Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. It’s amazing how one small handbag can make such a huge difference in helping individuals recover from a health crisis,” said Ilana Minkoff, Realtor, Event Sponsor, and Host Committee member.
This Old Bag is underwritten by event sponsors Leftwich Event Specialists, the Bently Reserve, British Motors, ForeScout Technologies, Inc., Macy’s, Ilana Minkoff and Vanguard Properties, Hannig Law Firm, Marc Rogers of Wells Fargo Advisors, Pacific Union, and Quintana Hanafi Pungprakearti, LLP. Corporate Sponsors underwrite all of the expense of This Old Bag, guaranteeing that 100% of all ticket sales and auction proceeds go directly to help low-income women in need.
